Since 2012, the year Community Health and Eyecare was founded, CHEC as we like to call ourselves for short, is no the largest provider of community-based ophthalmology services in the UK.

Over the years our team has built a reputation of patient focused care, ensuring we are responsive and considerate to the needs of our patients. As a leading independent healthcare organisation exclusively delivering NHS care, our growing reputation is underpinned by our dedicated medical and nursing staff, supported by the rapidly growing administration team in the background.

As a CQC registered organisation, we have developed our own IT infrastructure to allow us to change pathways in line with evidence base practice released by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the Royal college of ophthalmologists.

Although our Head Office is based in Preston, CHEC operate from over 100 locations nationwide. In 2019, with the support of clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), CHEC opened our flagship cataract and surgical centre in Stoke on Trent. This was followed rapidly with our first unit in Wales, with plans to bring more exceptional services to further national sites to support of hospital colleagues in delivering high quality eyecare closer to home.

Our vision is simple. Eyecare delivered in the community offers patients greater choice, flexibility and much reduced waiting times.
